As an Audit Senior Manager, A.J. Hurst is responsible for performing assurance functions including audits, reviews and compilations. He also provides business advisory services, assists in improving business processes and provides internal control documentation services to clients. He also has experience providing support in merger and acquisition transactions and similar services.
A.J. specializes in providing assurance and business advisory services to clients in the technology, healthcare, non-profit, registered investment companies, hospitality, employee benefit plan, construction, distribution, manufacturing, private equity and services industries. He works primarily with middle-market, privately-held companies in these industries.
During his career, A.J. served multiple tenures on the firm’s Audit Staff Council. He also actively participates in Frazier & Deeter training and mentorship programs, and is currently mentoring several Associates. Moreover, A.J. is a very active member of the firm’s Audit Methodology team.
He also helped draft the PKF International Professional Standards Committee’s (IPSC) response to the 2013 IASB Lease Exposure Draft and helped draft an updated version of the PKF International Group Audit Guide in 2014. Furthermore, he participated in a focus group with the AICPA to contribute to the rewriting of the universal CPA examination in 2014.
Since joining the audit department of Frazier & Deeter in 2009, A.J. has continued recruiting efforts for UGA in addition to participating in firm-wide recruiting activities.
